Week 24: Lucas Renney at the Electoacoustic Club

Such a contrast between the persona of the singer and the performer I have never seen. One was singing heart-wrenching break-up songs about being in love with an ex while trying to remain dignified and move on; the other was a chatty Geordie, cracking self-deprecating jokes while trying to make us buy his album. It worked though. Beautiful, poignant lyrics; soulful folk/almost country style; simple and perfect instrumentation and backing from keys, bass and kit. Well worth a second listen, as I fully intend to do.
